Telecom Italia (TI) has announced expansion of its fiber optic networks in Sassuolo, Civitanova Marche and five more towns in Calabria. As part of its deployment plans, the provider has expanded its high-speed fiber optic broadband service to the city of Sassuolo in the northern region of Emilia Romagna.
 
In Sassuolo, Telecom Italia the service has already been activated in over 10,000 households that corresponds to around 54 percent of the total population in the region. Telecom Italia aims to provide high speed broadband services to more than 94 percent of the city’s residents by the end of 2016.
 
Customers in the fiber connected areas will be able to access the internet at speeds of at least 50 Mbps at present. Telecom Italia says these speeds are upgradable to up to 100 Mbps in the future. The operator's fiber optic services are currently available at the promotional rates of EUR 29 per month for consumers and EUR 35 for businesses for the first 6 and 12 months respectively.
 
Telecom Italia has also started offering a high speed fiber optic broadband service in the town of Civitanova Marche in the central Marche region. In Civitanova, the service has already been activated in around 11,000 households, that corresponds to some 63 percent of the population. Telecom Italia uses Fiber to the Cabinet technology. The operator installed around 58 street cabinets in Civitanova to provide broadband services. Telecom Italia intends to extend the service coverage to around 66 percent of the local population by the end of 2015.
 
Telecom Italia has activated its Fiber to the Cabinet services in five more towns in Calabria as part of a EUR 100 million deployment in the southern region. Broadband service is now available in Crotone, Castrovillari, Corigliano Calabro, Locri and Palmi. Telecom Italia's customers in the connected areas will be able to access the internet at speeds of at least 50 Mbps. This speed can be increased to up to 100 Mbps in the future. In this region also, fiber optic services are currently available at the promotional rates of EUR 29 per month for consumers and EUR 35 for businesses for the first 6 and 12 months respectively.
